The focus of our mission is best described as theological discipleship—a form of discipleship that brings both thought and behaviour under the lordship of Christ. Primarily that means understanding God’s great act toward us in Christ, and therefore, the consequences of the Gospel for all of human endeavour. We believe this can only truly be done in community through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, and is expressed by means of study, mentorship, practicing hospitality, and engaging with the Arts.
KRUX finds its home in the heart of Stellenbosch – a thriving university town in the Western Cape. Its distinctive colonial Cape Dutch buildings, oak tree lanes, museums, art galleries, and countless boutique coffee shops and restaurants provide a unique cultural and intellectual haven to over thirty thousand students, many of them the most promising from the continent of Africa. We are uniquely positioned and privileged to disciple these young people at a critically formative juncture in their lives as their character and intellect are being shaped.
KRUX associates deeply with the wayfaring or sojourning life. It was founded in 2015 by South African natives JB and Corli Kröhn. With five kids in tow, they describe their current commission as that of missionaries in their homeland.
Corli is a home-educator, musician, past lecturer in Linguistics and Hebrew, and a lover of all things beautiful. James is an artist, adventurer, and theological educator. He has spent decades lecturing at theological colleges, in the spiritual formation of young people, and five years leading a small island church with his family off the coast of British Columbia, Canada.
